This spring Google officially confirmed that mobile search queries have overtaken desktop queries in ten countries, including the United States. The day Google officially added “mobile-friendliness” as a worldwide ranking factor, April 21, 2015, became known as Mobilegeddon.
That doesn’t sound like such a bad thing… so why call it “Mobilegeddon”? Because if your website does not provide visitors with a good user experience on their small screen devices, you’re going to take a hit when Google ranks websites based on search queries. That can be a disaster for your business.
What to do? First, check your website using Google’s Mobile-Friendly Test Tool. Type your website into the “Enter a web page URL” box and click the “Analyze” button. If you see a message like this:
You’re good to go! However if you see a message like this:
You have a website that is not the asset it could be in helping your business attract customers and clients. Mobile consumers are too big of a market segment to ignore, and an upgrade that makes your website mobile friendly would be a good investment.
